Acceptance

By accessing or using Coursebook (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. We may modify these terms at any time; continued use after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.

What the Service includes

Dimensional analysis and AI-powered summaries
Husky Chat — your AI assistant, Paws
An agent-powered semester Planner
Seat Watch alerts (in-app, plus optional email)
Personalized Memory Notes and course bookmarks
Community points and rewards

Coursebook is provided "as is" for informational purposes. It is not an official university tool and should not replace official academic advising.

Eligibility

Coursebook is designed for Northeastern University students and faculty. By using the Service, you represent that you are at least 13 years old and have a legitimate educational interest in NEU course data. We reserve the right to suspend accounts that do not meet these criteria.

Account & authentication

Coursebook uses Supabase for authentication. You can sign in with an email and password, or request a passwordless magic link. Either way, access to your account is tied to your email inbox — so keep both your inbox and your password secure.

Your responsibilities

Do not share your password or magic link with anyone.
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
Email support@coursebook.page immediately if you suspect unauthorized access.

Acceptable conduct

The following activities are prohibited:

Technical abuse

No scraping, automated querying, bot access, or attempts to circumvent security measures or access controls.

Harassment

Do not use the Service to target, harass, or defame specific professors, staff, or other students.

Commercial use

Reselling, redistributing, or commercializing Coursebook data or software is strictly prohibited.

False information

Do not create fake accounts or attempt to manipulate rating data through coordinated activity.

AI disclaimer

AI insights vs. academic advice

Husky Chat and AI summaries are for informational purposes only. AI can hallucinate, misinterpret sentiment, or miss context. These insights are not a substitute for official academic advising — always consult your department advisors before making registration decisions.

Content & ownership

Your Memory Notes

Husky generates Memory Notes from your conversations to personalize your experience. You can edit or delete them anytime on the My Coursebook page. By keeping them, you grant Coursebook a limited, non-exclusive license to store and process them solely to personalize your chat experience.

Platform IP

Coursebook owns the software, design, and original algorithms. Course evaluation data is sourced from community records and remains subject to the rights of original creators; Coursebook does not claim ownership over evaluation content.

Relationship with NEU & Eval25

No official affiliation

Coursebook is an independent student project. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or partnered with Northeastern University, Eval25, or any academic department or administration. We respect the policies of evaluation platforms and universities, and will promptly comply with data-removal requests from authorized parties — contact support@coursebook.page.

Disclaimers & liability

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim shall be $0, as the Service is provided free of charge.

We are not liable for any academic outcomes, loss of data, or service interruptions resulting from your use of Coursebook.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Coursebook and its developer(s) from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorney fees) arising from:

Your use of the Service in violation of these Terms.
Your violation of any third-party rights.
Any content you submit or actions you take on the platform.

Governing law & severability

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without regard to conflict-of-law provisions. Disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Suffolk County, Boston.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify registered users by email. Continued use after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
